Peace in the Full-Swing

Oct 24, 2015

Today started full-swing holiday season for us. We had our first Halloween event (the Fall Festival at my  mom’s church).  Tomorrow is Trunk-or-Treat at my church, which means a busy day for us. We’re going to a pumpkin patch this week and to the theater to see The Adams Family, then it will be Halloween, then time to start Christmas shopping.  Just kidding-I will hold off on Christmas shopping for a little while longer!

Charlie is a Clone Trooper (NOT to be confused with a Storm Trooper) and Maddie is a fairy this year.  They wore their full costumes for the first time tonight, and they look too cute.  I haven’t gotten a good picture yet, but I’m sure you’ll all see one soon. 🙂

This is such an exciting, joyful time of year.  But you know what I am asking God for this year, starting right now?  That this be a peaceful time of year.  I can easily get bogged down in my to-do list and in my Pinterest-y ideals, but I really don’t want to do that this year.  Last year, by the time Christmas came around, I was sick!  This year, beginning tonight, I am going to pray, for me and for all of you, that it will be a time of celebrating and rejoicing and….just peace that can only be supplied through God.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11: 28-30 (NIV)
