When I got Maddie to gymnastics today, a couple of mom-friends were sitting on the steps outside. We tend to gather there to wait while our daughters are in class.
I sighed loudly as I herded Maddie inside, and one of them met my eyes and said, “This has been a Monday on a Tuesday, for sure!” She took the words right out of my mouth.
I signed Maddie in and got her settled, then walked back outside to work with Charlie on his math work, which we hadn’t gotten around to yet. While he was working, I got to talk with my friends for a bit.
For all three of us, it had been one of those days where you work, work, work all day without actually accomplishing anything. We were tired and irritable, and agreed that a major part of our problem is that we had all stayed up too late the night before.
I ended the day on a good note, sitting on the couch with my family and watching It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Toy Story of Terror. The excitement of the impending holidays is on us, and I am relishing in that.
And now I am going to wrap this up and go to bed early tonight, and I hope that my friends are, too. 🙂
