You know what is one of the hardest things in the world? For me to pack to leave for a weekend without my family!
Right now, I am preparing to leave for 2 nights to go to the Women of Faith conference. AND IT IS SO HARD! Let me tell you, I am going to need a weekend of singing hymns and intense prayer to get over this Thursday morning of packing and preparing to leave.
Because a mom doesn’t just leave….
She has to make sure the laundry is clean (or everyone at least has enough clean underwear to last until she returns).
She has to make sure the fridge and pantry are full of foods that the husband (no matter how wonderful and capable he is) can prepare, and she has to show him how to work the can opener.
She has to balance the checkbook so nothing bounces while she’s away.
She has to pack book bags, prepare karate uniforms, and ready snacks.
She has to read enough books to the kids and get in enough cuddles so they won’t go through withdrawal while she’s away.
She has to move carseats to different vehicles and vacuum out the car so it is presentable for other people to ride in.
She has to answer 1,000,000 questions because the kids instinctually know she is trying to pack and get ready to go somewhere, and they think if they distract her enough she will just give in and stay home.
…and so much more.
Can I get an amen, Mamas?
