I didn’t plan on taking a really long weekend but on Thursday my phone rang while I was sitting at my desk. I immediately recognized the number…….daycare. I figured they were just calling me to inform me that Emma had fallen down and bumped her head. Yes, they call every time she bumps her head or has green snot. I’ve never seen this elusive green snot but it appears at daycare from time to time. Back to the original story……apparently Emma had some kind of infectious diarrhea. This meant she had to go home and couldn’t come back to daycare for 24 hours. Thus began the 4 1/2 day weekend. I’m just going to point out that there are several reasons that I am not a stay-at-home mom.
1. We can’t afford it. We need two incomes. This just is what it is.
2. I love my job. I’m good at it. Not that I’m not good at being a mom but I’m not good enough to do it all day, every day.
3. I need a break. I need several 8-9 hour breaks, five days per week. I need these breaks to stay sane. I don’t just need these breaks from Emma. I need these breaks from John too.
Emma was fine except for the diarrhea so she was crawling around and playing and she expected me to do the same. I can’t handle this many days with no break. I’m tired. I need a nap. Emma doesn’t take naps. She won’t let me take a nap. What 10 month old doesn’t take naps??!!?!
I can’t even write anymore tonight. It is 9:30 and I’m going to bed. In the morning I’m going to wake up and go to work. It will be like taking a vacation.
Casey, If you were a stay-at-home mom, you would be making sure that Emma takes a nap, because that would be your only break all day long. Anyway, at least she sleeps well at nighttime!
Green snot and infectious diarrhea? Ew. Ew. Ew. Maybe its good that I don’t have kids yet. I’m not ready for the gross stuff. That time Emma threw up on me, I thought I was gonna throw up on her throw up and then burn my clothes. Ew.
Your dogs are preparing you somewhat for the disgusting things that come out of children.
True, Dodger threw up right next to my foot while we were eating dinner the other night. That was pretty gross. I made Johnny clean it up.
